The Telemarketer

All day long, the hologram.

In the shower, to tell her about a new shampoo that wouldn’t leave her hair so greasy. At the breakfast table, sitting across from her as she raced to the bottom of her cereal bowl, to tell her a protein bar was healthier and would save time. On the train, to suggest a subscription to a legitimate news service, so she could stop doom-scrolling her frenemies’ feeds. Popping out of the coffee shop on her short walk to work, to ask if she were really serious about giving up coffee. At lunch to offer her a discount on a soup and sandwich combo from the restaurant downstairs.
