Very happy to announce that my science fiction short story “The Wawa Stick” will be appearing in Stupefying Stories #25, scheduled for release in early September.
As announced by editor Bruce Bethke, SS#25 will include these stories:
- “If We Shadows” by Fred Coppersmith
- “Gob Pile” by Neva Bryan
- “Tin Lizzi” by J. L. Royce
- “A Limited View” by Gary Kloster
- “Two-Tone” by Elise Stephens
- “Cloudbreaker Above” by Brandon Nolta
- “Caliban’s Cameras” by Allan Dyen-Shapiro
- “There Is Another Sky” by Bo Balder
- “Something Came Through” by Michael Burnside
- “The Wawa Stick” by Karl El-Koura
I originally sold my story to Bruce and his wife Karen in 2015. Unfortunately, Karen’s serious health issues delayed production on the issue (to what, if memory serves, Bruce once called “Dangerous Visions proportions”). Unfortunately, Karen passed away at the end of 2022 and, as he describes in the blog post linked above, Bruce had a difficult time working on this issue without her. I’m glad that Bruce was able to finalize work on it and that “The Wawa Stick” will be appearing in Stupefying Stories.
Memory eternal to Karen.
