“One Hand Washes the Other” sold to On Spec

This is a bittersweet post.

First, the sweet: On Spec holds a special place in my writer’s heart because it was one of the very first magazines I tried to sell a story to (way back in, ahem, 1996). In 2023, I finally sold them my story “Salvation of the Innocents,” which appeared last April in their Issue 127 (Vol. 32, No. 1). Today I’m pleased to announce that they’ve accepted a second story of mine, “One Hand Washes the Other.”

Now, the bitter: On Spec has announced that it will be ending its incredible run (my words, not theirs) at the end of this year. They’ve been publishing for 35 years!

My congratulations and gratitude to Diane Walton, On Spec‘s managing editor, and everyone involved in the magazine.

I’m very proud and happy that I got to be a part (a very small part, but times two now) of On Spec‘s legacy.
